Frequently Asked Questions

In order to protect Indonesian citizens from the increasing transmission rate of the Covid-19 virus along with its new variants, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia further extends entry restriction towards international, either directly or transiting in foreign countries, except:
  • Holders of diplomatic and official/service visa for the purpose of ministerial official visit or of higher level, with implementation of stricter health protocols
  • ​Holders of diplomatic residence permits and official residence permits; and
  • Holders of limited stay permit (KITAS) and residence permit cards (KITAP)
  • Travelers permitted under the travel corridor arrangement (TCA) bilateral agreement scheme.
  • Foreign nationals due to special discretion and provided with written permission from relevant ministries/government institutions
For foreigners who hold ITAS / ITAP and / or Re-entry Permits that will expire and are currently abroad during the temporary closing period of entry of foreigners to Indonesian territory, they can extend online through an online residence permit application.
 
The health protocol for Indonesian citizens and foreigners from all foreign countries who enter Indonesia, either directly or transiting in a foreign country must show negative results through the RT-PCR test in the country of origin whose samples are taken within a maximum period of 72 hours before departure time and attached at the time health check or e-HAC Indonesia.

In accordance with the Decree of the Head of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Number 6 of 2021, there will be 3 (three) times RT-PCR test:

  • 72 hours before departure;
  • 24 hours after arrival in the Republic of Indonesia; and
  • 5 days after arrival/isolation at the accommodation in Indonesia.

​Upon arrival, an RT-PCR retest was conducted for the traveler and are required to undergo mandatory quarantine for 5 days.

Quarantine Requirements:

  • For Indonesian citizens within category of Migrant workers, Student that has finished education and Civil Servant on duty, the quarantine facilities provided by the Indonesia government and free of charge (gratis).
  • For foreigners,  the quarantine facilities are at (Hotels / Inns) that have received certification of COVID-19 quarantine accommodation by the Ministry of Health and the cost shall be borne by the travellers.

After 5 days of quarantine from the date of arrival for Indonesian citizens and foreigners are re-examined RT-PCR.

​​In the event that the results of the RT-PCR reexamination upon arrival and after the 5-day quarantine show positive results, treatment is carried out in the hospital for Indonesian citizens at the expense of the government and foreigners at their own expense.

​Sponsor parties, Ministries / Institutions / BUMNs that consider the entry permit for these foreigners which are responsible

Heads of Foreign Missions and International Organizations as well as their families are allowed to undertake self-isolation for 5 x 24 hours at their respective residence.

Diplomatic corps and embassy staff members, along with their families, shall undertake isolation for 5 x 24 hours at the list of accommodations Certified by the Ministry of Health, upon independent choosing
